About The Position

Harborview Otolaryngology Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for a Full-time Days Patient Care Coordinator. This position is 100% FTE, working Days Mondays-Fridays, and is an on-site role with no telework. The role is conveniently located near public transportation and offers an opportunity to make a difference for the patients and employees served, with potential for career growth. The department, located at Harborview Medical Center, assesses and treats patients with routine and complex disorders, conditions, and cancers of the ear, nose, throat, and related structures of the head and neck. The team includes highly-trained surgeons, speech pathologists, nurses, and support staff who provide individualized treatment and information for the healthiest outcome possible. Services also include diagnosis and treatment for voice and swallowing conditions, sleep surgery, and complete audiology services.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty OR An equivalent of education/experience
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Responsibilities

  • Review and prioritize incoming referrals from multiple sources using their knowledge of each physician’s specialized skill set
  • Triage incoming referrals to assure the appropriate specialist will be reviewing referrals
  • Handle intake of each referral requests, ensuring complete information is received and entered into the electronic medical record system in a timely manner
  • Schedule initial patient appointments either in person or via Telemedicine based on provider and patient preference
  • Coordinates appointments for the patient at the appropriate facility and assists with urgent insurance authorization or financial assistance
  • Manage and resolve a high volume of phone inquiries and messages
  • Review appointment follow-up requirements and expectations with patients
  • Educate them to ensure adequate understanding of the purpose of each appointment and follow-up recommendations
  • Offer financial assistance to self-pay and underinsured patients. Provide them with the necessary steps to apply for financial counseling
  • Building provider schedules
  • Serve as a primary program contact to other departments, patients, providers outside facilities
  • Other assigned duties
