About The Position
Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Center - UW Medical Center – Montlake has an outstanding opportunity for a Patient Care Coordinator. This role is crucial in supporting a specialty clinic with fellowship-trained surgeons who assess and treat a wide range of head and neck conditions. The team's expertise in diagnostic tools is vital for setting out successful treatment plans. The Patient Care Coordinator will play a key role in coordinating patient care, from pre-operative assessments to post-operative follow-ups, acting as a liaison between patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in a medically related or public relations field, AND Two (2) years experience in a tertiary patient care setting involving interaction with a variety of medical services, contact with patients and families, interaction with physicians, and proficiency in medical terminology; OR Equivalent education/experience
Responsibilities
- Uses ability to triage medical information in the Heart Institute department within Surgical Specialties to a variety of Health Care Professionals using effective oral and written communication
- Works independently under the general direction of a physician or their designee
- Coordinate pre- and post-surgery diagnostic procedures, tests, and follow-up patient appointments
- Act as a liaison between patients, consulting physician, referring physician, or outside agency to coordinate patient appointments, admission, anesthesia, and surgery.
- Obtain all necessary medical records, diagnostic studies, pathology items, etc., that are needed for patient care
- Demonstrates the ability to be organized and effectively prioritizes work tasks for the needs of the clinic.
- Requests interpreters as appropriate for appointments, admissions, and surgery.
- Collaborate with all members of the clinic team to ensure exceptional patient care and satisfaction.
- Perform other duties as assigned
