About The Position

Assists in examination and treatment of patients under direction of Provider and/or Clinic Leader by performing various duties related to patient care, administrative tasks, and coordination of services.

Requirements

  • Nurse Aid, Medical Assistant or similar medical certification.
  • Minimum 1-3 years experience working in a medical or clinical setting.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Willing to submit to background check and drug screen.
  • Ability to assess, organize, and plan.
  • Demonstrated skills in problem identification and problem-solving.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and work independently under general direction.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to function as a team member.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with staff, patients, and community partners.
  • Computer literate and capable of operating an EMR.
  • Proficient with MS office suite.
  • Constant interpersonal skills, teamwork, customer service, reading, speaking, writing and understanding English, and problem analysis.
  • Frequent creativity, mentoring, presentations/teaching.
  • Frequent decision making and independent judgment or action.
  • Frequent keyboarding, sitting, standing, hearing and talking.

Nice To Haves

  • Bi-lingual (Spanish and English) preferred.
  • Experience with eClinical Works is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patient charts.
  • Prepares and stocks treatment rooms with necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Applies compresses, ice bags, and hot water bottles.
  • Assembles and uses medical equipment such as catheters, tracheotomy tubes, and oxygen suppliers.
  • Hands instruments and materials to the Provider as directed.
  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
  • Administers specified medication and notes details in patient's chart.
  • Assists with operating diagnostic equipment like x-ray and EKG.
  • Collects patient samples for testing and performs routine laboratory tests.
  • Assists with billing/registration tasks including scheduling, receiving payments, scanning records, and completing insurance forms.
  • Coordinates patient referrals through insurance and other provider offices.
  • Ensures coordination of referrals to internal providers (e.g., dietician, behavioral health) per policy.
  • Provides coverage for lab technicians and receptionists as needed.
  • Enters required information into the EMR according to protocol.
  • Ensures accurate and complete documentation of medical history, family history, social history, and medications.
  • Reviews patient demographics and entered data for accuracy.
  • Maintains basic life support and defibrillation certification.
  • Coordinates with providers to ensure quality standards are met.
  • May assist in training or re-training of nursing assistants on EMR workflow, nursing skills, lab competency, and quality measures.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by Clinician Supervisor.
