About The Position

This position provides direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction of a Registered Nurse. The role involves implementing components of the plan of care based on physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs, ensuring patient comfort, safety, and emergency measures. Key responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living such as personal care, nutritional, and elimination needs. The Patient Care Assistant will also measure vital signs, perform ECGs, and capillary blood glucose tests. They are responsible for observing and reporting the functioning of equipment, results of treatments, condition of dressings, and any changes in patient condition. The role requires incorporating the Hospital's Customer Service Program concepts into all patient care activities, including confidentiality, responsiveness, and caring. The individual is accountable to the Nurse Manager or designee and must adhere to departmental policies and procedures. If not certified at hire, the employee must successfully complete an onsite nursing certification program within 90 days.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Basic Life Support Required
  • If certification is not present at hire employee must successfully complete the onsite nursing certification program within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant Program or completion of at least one clinical rotation in an accredited Nursing program Preferred
  • 1 year experience in a patient care role Preferred
  • Certified Medical Assistant Preferred
  • Certified Nursing Assistant Preferred

Responsibilities
