About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Associate provides direct patient care and environmental support to facilitate patient and staff safety. This role assists the registered nurse in the functional care of patients, ensuring efficient and patient-centered care is delivered appropriate to the developmental level of the patient population. The Patient Care Associate collects, records, or communicates pertinent clinical data to the supervising nurse, and transports or accompanies patients as necessary to other areas of the hospital. They also assist in patient teaching, communicate any changes in patient status immediately to the supervising nurse, and document routine parameters of care per standard and records name and title. Additionally, they perform and document patient admission, transfer, and discharge tasks as requested by the nurse, maintain patient/family confidentiality at all times, and respond to patient/family requests promptly, seeking assistance as needed. The role also involves performing and remaining competent in skills, and acting as a constant observer when requested.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent required
  • Heart Saver certification required within 60 days of hire date from American Heart Association or Red Cross
  • 0-1 year of experience

  • Must be vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment.
