About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant will perform duties related to the preparation and post exam care of patients for CT and MRI studies. This role is part of the Diagnostic Imaging department at William Osler Health System, a major Ontario hospital system serving the communities of Brampton, Etobicoke, and surrounding areas. Requirements

• Graduate of certified medical laboratory assistant program or equivalent program including venipuncture
• Health sciences background
• Medical terminology
• Venipuncture experience required
• Customer service skills
• Computer knowledge
• Multi-tasking ability/critical thinking/problem solving
• Team player/excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Organizational skills, able to prioritize
• Ability to work in a fast paced and inter-professional team environment
• Innovative and willing to learn
• Demonstrate individual leadership
• Self- motivated

Nice To Haves

• Medical radiation technology experience
• CPR certification
• Knowledge of diagnostic imaging procedures, terminology and workflow including CT and MRI
• Knowledge of diagnostic imaging computer systems (i.e. PACS, RIS, HIS)
• Knowledge of MRI safety and radiation safety practices
• Previous training on safe lifting and transferring techniques

Responsibilities

• Perform duties related to the preparation and post exam care of patients for CT and MRI studies.
• Customer service
• Ensuring patient completion of pre-screening documents
• Intravenous insertion where indicated
• Providing instructions to patients such as waiting or changing into a gown
• Basic patient care
