About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) works collaboratively to deliver excellent patient care under the direction of a registered nurse. The role supports patients with hygiene and activities of daily living and helps maintain quality patient care. The position is part time on the Acute Rehab Unit, with 12-hour night shifts scheduled from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., 48 hours per pay period. Weekends and holidays are scheduled in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Nursing Assistant credential, or six months of direct Patient Care Assistant or Nurse Tech experience, or completion of at least one clinical rotation in nursing school, or enrollment in the Trinity Health Muskegon PCA program.
• Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups representing diverse perspectives.
• Articulates and demonstrates commitment to the organization’s philosophy, values, mission, and vision.

Responsibilities

• Respond to patient call lights or provide assistance through rounding.
• Provide or assist patients with personal hygiene, including showers, oral hygiene, and dressing or undressing.
• Transport patients as needed for procedures, transfers, or discharge.
• Maintain a clean and uncluttered environment in patient rooms.
