About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) provides compassionate, high-quality direct patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. The PCA supports patient safety, comfort, and daily care needs while helping maintain a positive patient experience and efficient clinical environment.

Requirements

1-3 years previous healthcare, hospital or long-term care experience
Proficient in English both verbally and written
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Compassionate, patient-focused approach to care
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Strong teamwork and time management skills
Ability to safely lift, move, and assist patients throughout the shift
Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and repositioning patients
Ability to work extended shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed

Nice To Haves

CNA certification preferred

Responsibilities

Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility
Obtain and document vital signs, intake/output, and other routine patient information accurately and timely
Perform glucose monitoring and bladder scans and report results to RN
Respond promptly to patient call lights and requests for assistance
Support safe patient transfers, repositioning, and ambulation using proper body mechanics and equipment
Maintain patient rooms in a clean, organized, and safe condition
Observe patients and report changes in condition, behavior, or safety concerns to nursing staff immediately
Assist with admissions, discharges, and patient transport as needed
Provide emotional support and compassionate care to patients and families
Follow infection prevention, safety, HIPAA, and hospital policies and procedures
Assist RNs and physicians with other exams and treatments as required
