About The Position
Within the framework of Cabell Huntington Hospital and nursing service policies and procedures, the primary purpose of the unit assistant position is a supporting role to nursing by conducting patient care activities, cleaning, and providing clerical and receptionist duties to the unit. PCA job specific duties vary depending on unit.
Requirements
- Junior College/Technical School is required
- Certified in West Virginia as CNA or Completion of Medical Assistant Program, or Patient Care Technician Program is required
- CPR within 90 days of employment/Glucoscan within 90 days of employment is required
- Must have proof of data entry class, introduction to computer, or six months prior computer experience.
- Experience in effectively dealing with the public is essential to this position.
- Successful completion of medical terminology exam (80%).
- Successful completion of unit competency exam for Patient Care Assistant.
- Must meet all requirements of criteria based evaluation (3 or better) within 90 day probationary period new hire/60 day transferred employee.
- Basic computer skills (including typing/keyboard/using a mouse).
Nice To Haves
- Up to 1 Year Experience is preferred
- One year experience as unit clerk will be considered.
- Mother/Baby Unit – must type 45 wpm
