The Patient Care Assistant assists staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care, supporting nursing practice under the supervision of a registered nurse. The PCA carries out delegated skills limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age prior to start date.
  • Completion of 12 college credits OR high school diploma/GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent.
  • Able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
  • Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from American Heart Association or American Red Cross. (Certification will be included as part of the orientation program if not currently held).

Nice To Haves

  • CNA experience is beneficial as skills align closely with PCA/PCT roles.
