The Patient Care Assistant, Neuro/Trauma role is a part-time position with 12 hours per week, typically on a rotating PM shift. This role involves providing approved patient care and assisting in the implementation of interventions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The assistant will also supervise and assist patients with activities of daily living and developmentally appropriate activities. A key aspect of the role is to offer assistance to co-workers after completing one's own duties and to utilize crisis control techniques to help de-escalate patients and visitors. The position may also involve assisting with patient transport and 1 on 1 patient observation as needed. The role emphasizes demonstrating Cincinnati Children's CARES behaviors, reporting patient status changes, completing timely documentation, seeking guidance when needed, and discussing concerns with the Director or designee. Ensuring a safe, organized, and efficient environment for patients, families, and staff, and complying with infection control and safety procedures are also crucial. The assistant will respond to communication systems and patient alarms with urgency, answer telephones according to etiquette, assemble charts, order supplies, and may assist in training new employees.
