The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) will work in the Burnet Emergency Department for 24 hours per week on the night shift. This role involves providing approved care for assigned patients, assisting with their daily living activities, and implementing interventions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The PCA will also be responsible for supervising developmentally appropriate activities, offering assistance to co-workers, and utilizing crisis control techniques for de-escalation. Additional duties include assisting with patient transport, potential 1 on 1 patient observation, and maintaining a safe and organized environment. The position requires strong communication skills, adherence to infection control and safety procedures, and timely documentation in the patient medical record. The PCA will also provide administrative support by responding to patient alarms, answering the telephone, assembling charts, and stocking supplies. There is a possibility of assisting in the orientation and training of new employees.
