We are a large Medical Surgical Department that has 4 units when opened in full; a total of about 100 beds at our fullest. Our patient population is very broad, and can be 18 years of age to end of life. Our medical populations most common diagnoses are pneumonia, infection management, wound care, post op gynecological or urological procedures, new ostomy site management, to name a few. In your role as a Patient Care Assistant for the Medical Surgical Department at Banner Baywood Medical Center, you will help provide basic nursing assistance to patients. Duties can vary from taking vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, respiration rate), to assisting with patient hygiene and movement, and generally monitoring the patient and providing updates to clinical staff. POSITION SUMMARY This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical records and provides a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department.
