About The Position

This role involves assisting patients with daily living activities, supporting their mobility, monitoring vital signs, assisting with basic care, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and transporting patients within the hospital. The position is full-time, working 12-hour day shifts at Harlingen Medical Center.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Current Certification in Patient Care required (M.A. / CNA / EMT / Paramedic / Patient Care Tech, etc.)
• Current BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current
• Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology

Nice To Haves

• Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate upon hire and maintain current
• Six months previous experience as Monitor Technician
• Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire
• Current EKG certification upon hire
• Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, and toileting
• Help with mobility, including turning, repositioning, and transferring patients to prevent skin breakdown
• Feed patients who need assistance and monitor intake/output
• Take and record vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration)
• Observe and report changes in a patient’s condition to nurses
• Help with wound care under the direction of an RN
• Stock and maintain supplies in patient rooms
• Ensure the environment stays clean and safe
• Assist in transporting patients within the hospital
