About The Position
St. Luke’s Health – Memorial Lufkin is a 279-bed facility and member of CommonSpirit Health, a national nonprofit health system. The facility serves East Texas, providing more than a quarter of a million patient services annually and contributing to local charity care and community support. It offers comprehensive health care services, including stroke care, emergency services, rehabilitation, outpatient services, imaging, OBGYN, wound care, infusion, and laboratory services. The Patient Care Assistant helps patients feel safe and comfortable by assisting with basic daily living activities, including personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding. The role also supports nursing staff with vital-sign monitoring and patient-room preparation. The successful candidate is diligent, observant of changes in patients’ conditions, willing to accept coaching, and motivated to help patients feel better.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing or one year of direct patient care experience.
- Basic Life Support (CPR) certification within 14 days.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care as delegated by RN staff.
- Monitor and record vital signs.
- Assist with personal hygiene and physical care needs.
- Accurately measure, record, and report intake and output.
- Obtain and record daily weights.
- Perform blood glucose testing using a blood glucose meter.
