About The Position

The Transplant Unit is seeking a full-time Patient Care Associate (PCA) with day and evening rotation shifts. This role involves supporting the multidisciplinary healthcare team in providing safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN). The PCA will assist patients with activities of daily living, promote comfort, maintain dignity, monitor and document vital signs, obtain EKGs, draw blood, and respond to patient requests while ensuring confidentiality and safety.

Requirements

  • Experience working in patient care/elder care (0-1 years preferred).
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong patient/customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift to 35 pounds.
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to navigate electronic medical records efficiently.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (National Certification) preferred.
  • Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (Massachusetts) preferred.
  • Nursing Assistant (LNA – Massachusetts) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility support.
  • Promotes comfort and maintains patient dignity.
  • Monitors and documents vital signs.
  • Obtains EKGs.
  • Draws blood.
  • Responds promptly to patient requests.
  • Safeguards confidentiality.
  • Ensures patient safety.
  • Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intake, and output measurements accurately and within established timeframes and/or as requested.
  • Completes all required documentation in the medical record.
  • Interacts effectively with patients and families.
  • Assists patients with turning, repositioning, and transferring between bed and wheelchair as needed.
  • Listens to patient concerns and reports changes or concerns to nursing staff promptly.
