About The Position

Shriners Children’s is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (CNA/ Certified Nursing Assistant) for their Inpatient Unit. This is a PRN, 12-hour shift position, working from 7 PM to 7 AM, with some weekend work assignments. The role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of pediatric orthopedic patients and their families, contributing to a unit that consistently ranks high in patient satisfaction. The position involves joining a team of healthcare professionals, including colleagues, orthopedic surgeons, and leadership.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma /GED
  • Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) in state of SC
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - or obtained within 3 months

Nice To Haves

  • Nursing Assistant experience
  • One year of pediatric nursing assistant experience

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the delivery of patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Provides direct patient care and performs routine tasks as assigned.
  • Organizes and prioritizes workload minimizing/eliminating undue delays, blacklogs, or disorder.
  • Time management incorporates purposeful rounding; hourly during the day and every 2 hours during the night, anticipating patient and family needs jointly with the RN.
  • Consistently demonstrates caring and appropriate behavior when interacting with patients and families.
  • Monitors the activities of patients and maintains a safe physical and psychosocial environment.
  • Able to adapt to changes in workload or patient assignments.
  • Assists patients as needed in attending Child Life Activities and special events.
  • Ensures patient care areas are neat and clean.
  • Other duties as assigned.
