About The Position

Working under the direction of licensed personnel, the Patient Care Assistant assists patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and eating. The position provides patient care in an onsite hospital setting and interacts with patients and their families while communicating relevant health concerns to nurses.

Requirements

Understand the role in relation to providing patient care activities.
Understand hospital, division, and unit policies and procedures and use them when providing care.
Communicate effectively with staff and members of the interdisciplinary health care team.
Communicate effectively with patients and significant others when providing patient care.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic Life Support (BLS) credential.
0–1 year of patient care experience.

Responsibilities

Accurately obtain vital signs, weights, heights, intakes, and outputs within established time frames or as requested.
Complete required documentation in the medical record.
Interact effectively with patients and their families.
Assist patients with basic hygiene, including bathing and dressing.
Help patients use the toilet and provide feeding assistance as needed.
Help patients turn and reposition themselves in bed and move between the bed and a wheelchair as needed.
Listen to patients’ health concerns and report them to nurses.
