About The Position

VITAS is seeking a Patient Care Administrator to join our leadership team and oversee clinical, operational, and call center functions within the hospice service area. This position combines clinical leadership, team development, operational oversight, and exceptional customer service to ensure patients and families receive timely, compassionate, and high-quality support throughout their hospice journey.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in the state where the program is located.
  • Three years of experience within the last five years in hospice, home health, primary care, or a healthcare facility, including at least one year of supervisory or administrative experience; alternatively, four years of relevant experience within the last five years with at least one year in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
  • Experience managing, supervising, coaching, and developing healthcare teams, including experience managing a team of leaders.
  • Hands-on experience with fiscal management, budgeting, and operational performance.
  • Experience with performance metrics, quality improvement, patient experience, and operational management.
  • Strong clinical judgment and the ability to provide consultation and support for complex patient care situations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, compassion, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong commitment to patient- and family-centered care and exceptional customer service.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, healthcare administration, or a related health-related field from an accredited college or university, or the international equivalent, preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of home health and hospice experience preferred.
  • Minimum of four years of healthcare management experience preferred.
  • Experience with call center operations, patient access, centralized scheduling, triage, or healthcare customer service leadership preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight of clinical and call center operations.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop call center and healthcare staff.
  • Ensure timely, professional, and compassionate responses to patient, family, and community partner inquiries.
  • Monitor call center performance, productivity, service levels, staffing, and key operational metrics.
  • Support patient care coordination, scheduling, and clinical escalations.
  • Consult with clinical staff regarding patient needs and complex care situations.
  • Lead quality improvement and patient experience initiatives.
  • Promote compliance with hospice regulations, organizational policies, and quality standards.
  • Monitor operational and financial performance.
  • Support budget management.
  • Partner with senior leadership to achieve clinical, operational, and service-area goals.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, compassion, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
