About The Position

Spencer Hospital is a rural hospital located in northwest Iowa employing over 500+ employees. Positions at Spencer Hospital are not affiliated with Avera; however, we collaborate to provide services to the communities we serve. Employment offers, if accepted, are exclusively with Spencer Hospital. This role is responsible for providing leadership to the Patient Accounts Department, monitoring indicators for staffing, productivity, quality, fiscal accountability, budget, and continuous improvement. The position manages department operations including human resources, legal and regulatory compliance, and providing professional/technical expertise. The supervisor is responsible for maintaining billed accounts receivable within established standards and acts as a role model for employees by initiating and accepting change. A strong understanding of all areas within the patient accounting departments is required, leading to ensure all areas work as a team.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of hospital policies and procedures of medical insurance, insurance forms, and Medicare and Medicaid guidelines.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, pronounced organizational skills, accomplished analytical skills.
  • Must have the ability to meet and communicate with staff, patients, visitors, and/or family members.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree in Business preferred.
  • 3 years medical business office experience preferred.
