About The Position
Spencer Hospital is a rural hospital located in northwest Iowa employing over 500+ employees. Positions at Spencer Hospital are not affiliated with Avera; however, we collaborate to provide services to the communities we serve. Employment offers, if accepted, are exclusively with Spencer Hospital. This position is PRN and works the Day Shift.
Requirements
- Previous hospital and/or clinic billing experience required
- Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology
- Must have excellent communication skills, caring attitude and be a team player
- Strong organizational skills are required
- HS diploma or equivalent required
Nice To Haves
- Experience with EPIC is a plus
Responsibilities
- Calling payors for payment
- Performs routine duties in conjunction with processing all third party insurance, Medicare, Medicaid and other government assisted programs.
- Submitting claims electronically or hard copy depending on the type of claim being processed.
- Handles day to day requests for insurance resubmits.
- Answers phone calls and correspondence relating to the claim.
- Audits the admission/registration information to ensure accuracy prior to billing and check for missing or incorrect information or authorizations.
