About The Position

This role supports department operations by supervising and prioritizing staff work in the absence of the department leader. The Patient Accounts Specialist Senior will represent the department and attend meetings on behalf of leadership as needed, complete high-priority assignments and projects with accuracy and timeliness, and prepare reports and manage required documentation. This position requires maintaining a working knowledge of all team functions to provide coverage when needed, and providing onboarding, training, and ongoing support to team members, offering feedback to leadership. The role also involves responding to internal inquiries across the Medical Center, performing complex clerical and collections-related duties, including handling patient accounts, and participating in team meetings to contribute to information sharing. Additionally, the Patient Accounts Specialist Senior will assist with special projects and department initiatives, support the resolution of escalated patient concerns and complaints, and organize workload effectively to meet deadlines and performance expectations while maintaining established Business Office standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 4 years of clerical experience, including at least 3 years in a credit/collections environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and IDX systems
  • Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute
  • Must meet Business Office performance standards within six months of hire

  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience within the supported department preferred
