About The Position
Join our team as a Billing & Collections Specialist, where your attention to detail and insurance know-how will help ensure patients are billed accurately and accounts are closed with care. This role involves taking the reins on daily billing of insurance claims and following up on outstanding balances (both payor and self-pay). You will monitor, reconcile, and resolve accounts, navigate complex insurance systems and workflows, and work with commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and special programs. You will also act as an expert on third-party billing processes and regulatory compliance, ensuring high quality and low errors to support the mission and reputation of the organization.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
- 2–3 years of experience in a hospital, physician’s office, or insurance billing role
- Knowledge of insurance reimbursement and government payors
- Ability to balance a spreadsheet and handle billing workflows with confidence
- Clear written and verbal communication skills with patients, coworkers, and payors
- Familiarity with 837i forms, ICD-10/CPT/HCPC codes, revenue codes, and HIPAA transaction sets
- Good grasp of medical terminology
