About The Position

U.S. Physical Therapy, Inc. ("USPh") is experiencing a period of growth and is hiring a Patient Account Representative with strong technical ability and business acumen to join their Houston team. This role is critical in the billing and claims department, responsible for facilitating procedural requirements such as data elements, insurance verification, authorization for services, and collections for all patient portions, including prior balances. This is a PRN coverage role for a large Central Billing Office, offering remote work to cover PTO, vacations, or illnesses. The more departments the individual can cover for, the more hours can be scheduled. The role involves verification, authorization, posting, billing, and AR follow-up.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1-2 years of experience in medical billing and collections
  • Knowledge of medical billing and coding, insurance regulations, and healthcare reimbursement policies
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Waystar, Japari and other computer programs

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Raintree experience or PT experience preferred
  • Experience with multi partnership billing, posting, and authorization and verifications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with patients to resolve billing and payment issues.
  • Research and resolve discrepancies in patient accounts.
  • Process payments and refunds.
  • Review and update patient insurance information.
  • Communicate with insurance companies to obtain prior authorizations and verify coverage.
  • Follow up on unpaid claims and denials.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient account information.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare providers.
  • Collaborate with other departments to improve processes and ensure timely reimbursement.
  • Maintain knowledge of current insurance regulations and coding requirements.
  • Perform verification, authorization, posting, billing, and AR follow-up.
  • Cover PTO, vacations, or illnesses for various departments.
