Patient Account Representative - Self Pay Team
About The Position
This role focuses on reviewing patient accounts to identify and correct issues before they become bad debt. The Patient Account Representative will also review bankruptcy notices to determine if accounts need to be filed with the courts. This may involve confirming insurance coverage or contacting patients for more information. The representative will take appropriate corrective action and document it on the account. Responsibilities include Physician Billing and/or Hospital patient account review, daily use of IDX and Healthquest software, and working independently with minimal supervision on a variety of duties.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED OR 2 years of relevant experience in lieu of education.
- 0-2 years of prior relevant experience in healthcare, health insurance, or finance.
- Some working knowledge of health insurance or bankruptcy/finance.

Responsibilities
- Review each patient account to determine corrective opportunities before bad debt.
- Review bankruptcy notices to determine if accounts need to be filed with the courts.
- Confirm applicable insurance coverage or contact the Patient for further information.
- Take appropriate corrective action and note the account.
- Perform Physician Billing and/or Hospital patient account review.
- Use IDX and Healthquest software daily.
- Work independently with a variety of duties with minimal supervision.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
