About The Position

This is a full-time, days position for a Patient Account Representative. The role is 100% onsite and requires no travel or clearance. The primary duties will involve mail clerk responsibilities such as receiving, sorting, opening, reading, and distributing mail. This includes scanning documents, forwarding mail, and processing patient requests like sending bill copies. The representative will also serve as a key point of contact for patients regarding billing, account questions, payment options, and general account support. Responsibilities include researching and resolving patient account issues, communicating with various parties, reviewing account activity, updating records, and assisting with collection activities. The role requires providing exceptional customer service while maintaining patient confidentiality in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment supporting hospital and managed services operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 0-2 years of prior relevant experience

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working in a hospital, physician office, or healthcare revenue cycle environment.
  • Familiarity with patient account systems, electronic health records, or billing software.
  • Experience in customer service, patient access, billing, collections, accounts receivable, or a related healthcare support role.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain account information clearly and professionally.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving, sorting, opening, reading, and distributing mail.
  • Scanning documents to email to other departments and forwarding mail via inter-office as needed.
  • Processing patient requests such as sending a copy of a bill.
  • Serving as a key point of contact for patients regarding billing, account questions, payment options, and general account support.
  • Researching and resolving patient account issues, including discrepancies, payment posting concerns, and insurance-related questions.
  • Communicating professionally with patients, healthcare teams, and internal departments to gather information and provide timely resolution.
  • Reviewing account activity, updating patient records, and maintaining accurate documentation of actions taken and outcomes.
  • Assisting with collection activities, including follow-up on outstanding balances and support for payment arrangements.
  • Providing exceptional customer service while maintaining sensitivity to patient needs and confidentiality requirements.
  • Working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment supporting hospital and managed services operations.
