About The Position

The Patient Accounts Rep has the primary responsibility for the coordination of care for each respiratory patient in Home Medical Equipment. This entails coordinating patient events from receipt of referral to end of care, including conducting prior authorizations for care, scheduling care with respiratory therapists, verifying delivery of equipment, re-certification of care, satisfaction surveys, and all other patient access points. Documentation and reporting will be utilized to track and monitor missed reimbursement opportunities. They provide review and assurance of complete and thorough documentation. They are also responsible for reporting on the operational performance of respiratory services.

Requirements

  • One year of experience utilizing clerical, computer, and receptionist skills.
  • Excellent telephone communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain a high degree of rapport with patients, co-workers, physicians and the public.
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
  • Analytical skills necessary to provide first level insight into program trends and activities.
  • Analytical and grammatical skills necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook (Microsoft Office Suite) for a variety of support functions.
  • Ability to learn new functions and keep up with changing regulatory requirements.
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential.
  • Ability to fulfill the essential functions of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of FDA rules and regulations in regards to oxygen and sleep equipment and service.
  • Medical terminology.
  • Previous home medical equipment billing experience or related experience.
  • ICD-10 Coding.
