About The Position

The Patient Accommodations role ensures reservations and pre-certification information are obtained for scheduled admissions. The position coordinates reservations for patients entering the hospital, assigns rooms for medical/surgical and monitored step-down units, and coordinates bed assignments with Behavioral Health, Rehab, Mother/Baby, Palliative Care, Pediatrics, and Critical Care. It obtains pre-certifications for scheduled admissions before the patient is admitted and verifies insurance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in patient registration procedures, medical terminology, medical office functions, Excel, Microsoft applications, and computer keyboard use.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, hospital personnel, physicians, and other customers.
• Ability to maintain a courteous and helpful attitude and positive working relationships with departments, floors, and doctors' offices.
• Ability to maintain composure under pressure, including when beds are in short supply.
• Experience using various office machines.
• Typing speed of 45 words per minute.
• Good telephone skills.
