About The Position

The Patient Access Specialist at Biologics, Inc. plays a crucial role in ensuring a seamless and positive experience for patients accessing our specialized biologic therapies. This position is responsible for managing the administrative and logistical aspects of patient intake, insurance verification, and scheduling.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of experience in patient access, medical front office, insurance verification, or a similar healthcare administrative role.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other healthcare-specific software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a compassionate and patient-focused approach.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, particularly related to specialty medications or biologics, is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for new and existing patients, guiding them through the access process for biologic medications.
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and prior authorization requirements for prescribed biologic therapies.
  • Educate patients on their insurance benefits, potential out-of-pocket costs, and available financial assistance programs.
  • Collect and accurately enter patient demographic, insurance, and medical information into the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, including physicians, nurses, and billing specialists, to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Resolve patient inquiries and concerns regarding access to care, insurance, and appointments in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance patient access efficiency and satisfaction.
