This role involves providing exceptional customer service to patients, ensuring a positive first impression of Northwestern Medicine. Responsibilities include collecting patient demographic information, interacting with various hospital departments and physicians' offices, scheduling appointments, performing medical necessity checks, and informing patients about financial accounts. The specialist will also handle communication regarding physician and insurance referrals, collect authorization numbers, and contribute to a professional communication environment across departments. They will utilize multiple online systems for order retrieval, insurance verification, and updating patient information in Epic. The role also focuses on efficiency, process improvement, and business growth by proactively preventing patient visit issues, ensuring complete registrations, monitoring quality metrics, and suggesting improvements to enhance customer service and operational efficiency. Training new staff and acting as a resource for coworkers are also key aspects. The schedule may change to reflect shifting business needs, and the specialist must evolve and learn as healthcare policies change.
