This role involves practicing Patients First philosophy, adhering to high standards of customer service, and fostering a team atmosphere. Responsibilities include responding to questions, maintaining patient confidentiality, providing exceptional customer service, collecting patient demographic information, interacting with hospital departments and physicians' offices, scheduling appointments, performing medical necessity checks, informing patients of financial account issues, completing out-of-pocket estimations, providing training, managing work schedules efficiently, cross-training between departments, participating in Quality Assurance reviews, and using service recovery skills. The role also involves communicating information to patients regarding referrals and consultations, collecting authorization numbers, providing a professional communication environment, attending meetings, communicating customer satisfaction issues, demonstrating teamwork, interacting with internal customers, and accommodating all levels of communication ability. Additionally, the role requires utilizing online retrieval systems, verifying insurance eligibility and benefit levels, completing accurate handoff instructions and notes in Epic, running real-time eligibility checks, sending quality Epic Messages/Telephone encounters, proactively preventing patient visit issues, understanding the minimum data set for registration, monitoring quality metrics, analyzing account activity, evaluating procedures for improvements, participating in quality improvement activities, monitoring registration and scheduling, adjusting processes to meet standards, using resources efficiently, acting as a training resource, and understanding that schedules may change. The role also requires evolving and learning as healthcare policies change.
