About The Position

We are seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Patient Access Specialist/ Front Desk Receptionist to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring smooth daily operations and providing excellent customer service to our patients. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, the ability to multitask, and a commitment to maintaining a welcoming environment.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of EMR and health insurance copays & deductibles preferred
  • Knowledge of front and back-office procedures
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Knowledge of HIPPA
  • Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment
  • Proper telephone etiquette
  • Ability to build rapport with patients and co-workers
  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented
  • Ability to respond well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Problem solving ability
  • Skilled in multitasking effectively, prioritizing tasks and excellent time management
  • Professional and courteous demeanor
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on computer
  • Frequent standing and walking to assist patients and team members
  • Occasional lifting of office supplies or medical files up to 15 pounds
  • Ability to move quickly in response to patient or office needs
  • Clear vision and hearing to interact effectively with patients and team members
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have completed a Medical Office, or Medical Assistant Program
  • 1-2 years’ experience in customer service, preferably in health care setting.
  • 1-2 years EMR experience

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients with professionalism and courtesy
  • Answer and direct phone calls, responding to inquiries and scheduling appointments
  • Verify and maintain accurate patient/family demographic information and enter this information in the electronic health record, to include scanning, filing, and checking for or obtaining required missing documents
  • Verify patient insurance information and collect co-pays
  • Perform administrative duties including answering/returning calls, filling, scheduling appointments, contact families, following up with inquiries
  • Assist families in filling out patient history forms, consent forms, and payment contract forms, when necessary
  • Coordinate with medical staff to ensure efficient patient flow
  • Communicate directly and consistently with patients regarding their financial responsibility.
  • Ensure the protection of confidential information in accordance to HIPAA guidelines as well as organizational policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
