About The Position

This role involves obtaining demographic and billing information for patients, contacting third-party payers for pre-certification, and escorting/transporting patients to their assigned nursing units. The specialist will strive for customer satisfaction, inform patients of hospital payment requirements, and receive/record admission notifications from various hospital departments. Additionally, the role requires providing coverage for other departmental duties as assigned, including Bed Control and Discharge, under the supervision of department supervisors.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to interact with the public, i.e. children, adolescents, adults and geriatric.
• Ability to interpret and possess basic medical and anatomy terminology skills.

Nice To Haves

• Previous business office experience preferred in a healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Obtain demographic and billing information.
• Contact third-party payers to obtain pre-certification when required.
• Escort/transport patients to the assigned nursing unit.
• Inform patients of hospital payment requirements.
• Receive and record notification of patients being admitted from physician’s offices, emergency room, and the recovery room.
• Provide coverage for other departmental duties as assigned, including Bed Control and Discharge.
