About The Position

Interview and register patients or their representative for services at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Registrars will provide hospital personnel, patients and their families with a seamless and efficient registration experience. All staff will be cross-functionally trained to support all areas of registration, and will be contributing to a well-trained workforce (i.e., training, mentoring, auditing, etc.).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 1 or more years experience as a Patient Access Specialist
  • Certified Patient Account Representative (CPAR)
  • Georgia Work Ready certification
  • Proficient in time management and identifying priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Interview and register patients or their representative for services at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
  • Provide hospital personnel, patients and their families with a seamless and efficient registration experience.
  • Be cross-functionally trained to support all areas of registration.
  • Contribute to a well-trained workforce (i.e., training, mentoring, auditing, etc.).
  • Analyze and disseminate physician orders to appropriately match services to the planned admission.
  • Educate patients and designated individuals about their rights and responsibilities as a hospital patient.
  • Secure all federal and state mandated forms (i.e., self-pay forms, Joint Commission, HIPAA, Advance Directives, waivers, Advance Beneficiary Notices, Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire, etc.).
  • Verify eligibility of insurance and other forms of reimbursement.
  • Collect money due at the point of service.
  • Adhere to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.
  • Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization.
  • Perform other duties as required and complete all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain current knowledge in present areas of responsibility to include any specialty certification requirements (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs).
  • Attend staff meetings and complete mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
  • Demonstrate competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.
  • For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age-specific customer service skills.
  • Wear protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
