Kern Medical has been a community cornerstone since its founding in 1867. Today, we are an acute care teaching center with 222 beds, offering the only advanced trauma care between Fresno and Los Angeles. Kern Medical cares for 15,500 inpatients and 125,000 clinic patients a year. This position performs full supervisory duties and complex patient access support activities, which may include coordinating projects, all phases of patient registration and admitting functions, patient financial counseling, researching and analyzing complex federal, state, and commercial insurance funding issues and developing methods, policies, and procedures for an assigned area. This is the full supervisory level of the Patient Access Services classification series. It is distinguished by the responsibility for the most complex and challenging patient access duties in the areas of registration, admitting, and patient financial counseling. Incumbents are expected to have advanced knowledge of all phases of insurance funding and possess excellent customer service skills in dealing with patients both in person and on the telephone. Assignments may be made in registration/admitting, financial counseling, or related patient access areas. Patient Access Services Supervisor is distinguished from the Patient Access Services Representative III classification by its performance of full supervisory responsibilities.
