The Patient Access Scheduler ensures timely, accurate, and complete scheduling of assigned area(s). This role promotes the efficiency of the assigned area(s) through accurate scheduling, coordinating with resource availability to minimize delays in services. The scheduler is responsible for coordinating scheduling for any related services, accepting and prioritizing incoming phone calls, and triaging information for urgent procedure requests. They will notify appropriate personnel of scheduling changes/cancellations, provide instructions as directed by clinical staff, and obtain all necessary patient information. The role involves scheduling the correct procedure, accurately entering orders into the clinical system, and meeting productivity standards. Additional responsibilities and projects may be assigned. The scheduler will accurately identify patients in the Master Patient Index system, assign correct Medical Record and Account Numbers, and forward critical requests for supplies/services to the appropriate personnel. They will serve as a liaison and communication point for various entities to coordinate scheduling functions, communicate schedule changes early and accurately, and demonstrate respect, courtesy, and empathy to all individuals. Compliance with established Customer Service expectations, demonstration of regard for patient rights, and maintenance of positive work relationships are key. The role also supports unit/hospital goals through QA and educational activities, attends mandatory in-services, and meets unit education standards, modifying behavior to comply with care standards and requirements.
