This role involves patient registration and scheduling, with duties varying by location. The Patient Access Representative greets patients, verifies demographics, registers/schedules patients, handles paperwork, creates electronic files, educates patients, and collects payments. They may also manage registration work queues, coordinate appointments, obtain referrals, conduct pre-authorizations, arrange interpreter services, and manage provider schedules. Additional duties can include chart preparation, financial assistance discussions, prior authorization, visit tracking, health information management, reporting, assessment administration, Telemed coordination, and reminder calls. In all settings, the role includes mentoring new staff, displaying professionalism, working independently and as part of a team, maintaining confidentiality, and demonstrating excellent customer service and empathy. A working knowledge of medical terminology and professional written communication is required.
