About The Position

RiverView Health has an opening for a full time (64 hours every 2 weeks) Patient Access Representative. This position would cover the 3:00pm-11:30pm evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight shifts. The Patient Access Representative: Answers phones and schedules patients. Perform all duties related to the pre-registration, registration, and financial clearance processes for all patients. Greets and registers patients while collecting and accurately entering all information required for visit. Communicates clearly and effectively with patients and families, physicians, nurses and insurance companies. Performs insurance verification either real time or manual verification for eligibility. Performs point of service, collection of co-pays and other patient liability. Obtains signatures for all necessary documents. Safeguards and reconciles all monies collected daily in compliance to cash handling policies and procedures. This position will be cross trained to the Emergency Department for Patient Access responsibilities in that area when needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of customer service experience
  • Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in health care setting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • 1+ years of experience in a Patient Access setting
  • 1+ years of experience with an Electronic Medical Record such as Epic
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance
