About The Position

RiverView Health has an opening for a full time (64 hours every 2 weeks) Patient Access Representative. This position would cover the 3:00pm-11:30pm evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight shifts. The Patient Access Representative answers phones and schedules patients. They perform all duties related to the pre-registration, registration, and financial clearance processes for all patients. This role greets and registers patients while collecting and accurately entering all information required for visit. The representative communicates clearly and effectively with patients and families, physicians, nurses and insurance companies. They perform insurance verification either real time or manual verification for eligibility. They also perform point of service, collection of co-pays and other patient liability. The role obtains signatures for all necessary documents and safeguards and reconciles all monies collected daily in compliance to cash handling policies and procedures. This position will be cross trained to the Emergency Department for Patient Access responsibilities in that area when needed.

Requirements

Minimum two (2) years of customer service experience
Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time
Ensure accurate data entry for patient registration and scheduling
Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Nice To Haves

Experience in health care setting
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
1+ years of experience in a Patient Access setting
1+ years of experience with an Electronic Medical Record such as Epic
Basic knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance
