About The Position

This part-time position supports customer relations, physician relations, patient care, and hospital business services by performing administrative and scheduling tasks for multiple areas. The role is responsible for pre-registration, scheduling, electronically verifying insurance eligibility, and accurately identifying and collecting patient financial responsibility. The Patient Access Representative handles complex scheduled events, including high-dollar testing and associated studies, and communicates effectively with service delivery areas to optimize patient flow and customer service. This role initiates the patient experience and the billing process for hospital services.

Requirements

1 year customer service experience, required
HS Diploma or equivalent
HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within one (1) year of hire.

Insurance verification with the ability to explain benefits, secure necessary authorizations

Responsibilities

Provides patient-focused customer service.
Performs outpatient and/or inpatient registration and insurance verification functions.
Collects patient financial liability payments and ensures patients meet financial requirements, including Medicare medical necessity, payer pre-certifications, and referrals.
Provides general information to hospital users, patients, families, and physician offices.
Researches, collects, and analyzes information.
Identifies opportunities, develops solutions, and leads through resolution.
Collaborates on performance improvement activities as indicated by outcomes in program efficiency and patient experience.
Responsible for the distribution of analytical reports.
Utilizes multiple system applications to perform analysis, create reports, and develop educational materials.
Incorporates basic knowledge of Trinity Health policies, practices, and processes to ensure quality, confidentiality, and safety are prioritized.
Demonstrates knowledge of departmental processes and procedures and the ability to readily acquire new knowledge.
Researches and compiles information to support ad-hoc operational projects and initiatives.
Synthesizes and analyzes data and provides detailed summaries, including graphical data presentations illustrating trends and recommending practical options or solutions while considering the impact on business strategy and supporting leadership decision-making.
Leverages program and operational data and measurements to define and demonstrate progress, ROI, and impacts.
Maintains a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws/regulations, Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct, as well as other policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior and safe work practices.
