About The Position

The Patient Access Representative works closely with patients, providers, technologists, and other healthcare team members to promote timely access to care, maintain regulatory compliance, support efficient departmental workflows, and create a positive patient experience throughout the scheduling and registration process. This position is responsible for scheduling diagnostic imaging appointments, registering patients, and ensuring an efficient check-in process. This role serves as the first point of contact for patients and provides exceptional customer service while coordinating access to imaging services. Duties include scheduling appointments based on provider orders and department protocols, verifying patient demographics and insurance information, obtaining required authorizations and referrals, and communicating preparation instructions for procedures. During patient check-in, responsibilities include confirming registration information, collecting applicable copayments, obtaining required consent forms, and ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate. This position works either 8 or 10-hour shifts between the hours of 6:30am-5:00pm (preferences discussed during interview). Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting
  • Customer service skills essential
  • May require BLS for certain locations and/or settings

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education helpful
  • Medical terminology helpful
  • Six months' customer service experience desired

Responsibilities

  • Collecting co-payments, pre-payments, and payments on account balances
  • Working through the registration work queue to address and resolve registration errors or denied insurance claims
  • Working with nursing team & providers to coordinate & schedule appointments to meet patient’s needs, coordinate provider schedule
  • Obtaining and coordinating referrals & conducting pre-authorization
  • Arranging interpreter services
  • Checking patients in/out
  • Operating multi-line phone
  • Resolving work queue issues, managing recall and waitlists, & serving as switchboard operator calling codes and paging providers
  • Preparation & coordination of charts
