About The Position

Adventist Health Columbia Gorge is looking for a Patient Access Representative for Per-Diem, Variable shift. This role is located in The Dalles, OR. The Patient Access Representative is responsible for timely and accurate patient registration. This includes interviewing patients for all pertinent account information, verifying insurance, and calculating and collecting patient liability amounts. The role ensures all necessary signatures for treatment are obtained, answers patient questions, and clearly explains policies. Additionally, the representative checks for physician orders, attaches them to the appropriate patient record for correct test assignment, and prints and collates necessary paperwork for patient distribution. The role also involves escorting patients to their designated areas or referring them to an available escort.

Requirements

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
  • Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
  • Must receive all required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable. Medical and religious exemptions may apply.

Responsibilities

  • Timely and accurate patient registration.
  • Interview patients for all pertinent account information.
  • Verify all insurance and calculate and collect patient liability amounts.
  • Ensure that all necessary signatures are obtained for treatment.
  • Answer any questions and explain policies clearly.
  • Check for physician orders and attaches them to appropriate patient record to ensure correct test is received.
  • Print and collate any paperwork needed for each patient to for distribution to unit/department.
  • Escort patients to his/her area or refers patient to available escort as needed.
  • Check for physician orders and attaches them to patient medical record to ensure that patients are receiving appropriate tests.
  • Choose correct health plan and accurately and research to ensure accuracy when verifying insurance.
  • Enter all authorization information accurately as needed.
  • Follows guidelines and instructions from senior staff.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
