About The Position

St. Peter's Health Partners is seeking a Patient Access Representative I for Patient Access at Albany Memorial Hospital. The role is often the first point of contact for patients entering the healthcare system and provides compassionate service, accurate information, and administrative support to help patients and families navigate the healthcare process.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of customer service experience.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Comfort using multiple computer applications and learning new systems.
• Ability to commit to a two-week training period, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Availability for a required weekend and holiday rotation.

Nice To Haves

• Patient Access or clerical healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients, families, and visitors professionally and compassionately.
• Register patients for outpatient and inpatient services and ensure demographic and insurance information is accurate.
• Verify insurance coverage; explain benefits; and secure required authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications.
• Collect patient payments and explain financial responsibilities clearly and respectfully.
• Collaborate with physicians' offices, clinical staff, and other departments to support seamless patient care.
• Use multiple computer systems and applications to manage patient information, maintain records, and support workflow efficiency.
• Research and analyze information to resolve registration and insurance issues quickly and accurately.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance the patient experience and operational effectiveness.
