The Patient Access Representative 1 (On-Site) registers patients for clinical services by obtaining pertinent information, verifying insurance benefits, and collecting payments. This role involves performing full registration, ensuring insurance verification, and accuracy of patient information. The representative will explain and obtain signatures for important documents like Consent for Treatment, Financial Liability, and HIPAA. They will also manage appointment scheduling, cancellations, edits, and accurately record no-shows. Additionally, the role requires reconciling vouchers, answering telephone calls, and adhering to University and unit-level policies. Department-specific functions include projecting a welcoming demeanor, interacting effectively with patients of all ages and the healthcare team, and coordinating various functions using multiple systems such as EPIC MyChart, Grand Central ADT, Cadence, Prelude, Radiant, OP Time, Care Everywhere, Resolute, Nice inContact Communication, and Aria Oncology. The representative will perform pre-service validation, assist patients with self-serve technology, coordinate patient flow, and accurately enter and update demographic, financial, and HIPAA protected information. They will review insurance eligibility, conduct critical communication with patients regarding legal documents, and triage incoming calls. The role also involves collecting and processing currency, performing end-of-day cash reconciliation, and timely bank deposits. Cross-training for Front-End Revenue Cycle and Clinical Support functions is expected, allowing the ability to float across all areas. Knowledge of healthcare regulatory guidelines and compliance requirements including OSHA, HIPAA, JC, AHCA, EMTALA, and CMS is necessary.
