About The Position

The Patient Access Manager (PAM) is a highly visible regionally field-based position that will provide product access, distribution, logistical, and other non-medical educational assistance to physician offices and patients/caregivers both in person and virtually. The PAM will partner with the patient and their health care providers to educate them on the requirements to gain access to therapy including information specific to prior authorization and appeals. The PAM also will work to maintain relationships with the patients and the office staff to support ongoing compliance with prescribed therapy, troubleshoot access issues that may arise, and provide ongoing educational and therapy support in conjunction with Patient Services, the specialty pharmacy, and other field-based personnel. The PAM will have experience in rare diseases and a passion for helping patients gain access to much needed therapy. This territory covers Carolinas, Nashville, St. Louis and Kansas City.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; Advanced degrees (RN, MSN, MBA) are a plus
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant rare disease experience, including product launches
  • Deep expertise in prescription coverage, access strategies, payer trends, and authorization escalations
  • A successful track record in field reimbursement, practice management, clinical education, nursing, or patient advocacy would be beneficial in this role.
  • Experience collaborating with provider offices such as a physician practice, patient assistance programs, patient services, or similar pharmaceutical support program strongly preferred
  • Experience partnering directly with patients and caregivers in rare disease both in person and virtually
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
  • Strong history of successful cross functional collaboration

Responsibilities

  • Subject matter expert in preventing and addressing access issues through education and problem-solving
  • Educate healthcare providers, support staff, and patients on all aspects of the prescription process including, but not limited to, prior authorization requirements, specialty pharmacies, and patient resources
  • Work seamlessly and in coordination with patient services, specialty pharmacy, and other field teams to remove barriers to therapy access
  • Monitor and report trends in access barriers, payer behavior, and patient needs to inform strategy and continuous improvement to market access/payer engagement team
  • Work with internal and external patient advocacy groups to identify local resources, foster a patient support network, and help facilitate patient meetings as needed
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of internal and external Patient Support Programs and serve as a resource in an assigned territory
  • Accurately document all case activity and patient interactions
  • Ensure all interactions and activities are conducted in accordance with HIPAA, FDA, and company compliance standards
