About The Position

The person in this position provides assistance in coordinating all the functions and activities related to patient access for the Corporation. These functions are performed in accordance with overall NHA philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.

Requirements

  • Three years experience in a medical/clinical office required
  • Experience in computerized registration systems and supervisory experience necessary
  • Strong leadership and planning skills required
  • Must be task oriented, strong oral and written skills and must be comfortable with public speaking
  • Discretion, a high level of professionalism, strong attention to detail, the ability to effectively multi-task is essential
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills, superior telephone etiquette
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and billing requirements
  • The ability to perform in high pressure environment
  • Ability to provide guidance, support and direction to other registration staff as well as organize and prioritize one’s own work effort and those of area under team lead responsibility.
  • Ability to deal effectively and professionally with a variety of different individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and training to all front-end customer service staff
  • Accurate patient registration in the electronic registration system
  • On-site insurance verification and financial counseling
  • Accurate Time of Service (TOS) payment collections
  • Interfacing with both the billing department and the healthcare teams
  • Ensures that all scheduling, registration and payment collection activities are staffed appropriately daily
  • Ensures that quality services are provided and actively engages in a quality assurance program for these services
  • Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes.
  • Management of all special projects and coordinating with partnerships as required. Completes these assignments by establishing objectives, determining priorities; managing time; gaining cooperation of others, monitoring progress; problem solving, making adjustments to plans.
  • The development and initial implementation of new program and project initiatives.
  • Enhances Corporation’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Actively attend meetings and committees, working closely with other leaders to ensure policies, procedures and processes are current.
  • Work with the Director of Clinical Services to manage daily staffing needs.
  • Generate and monitor UDS, financial and productivity reports for compliance of staff and department metrics and propose workflows to address trends in process gaps.
  • Responsible for coordinating language services.
  • Manage the outsourced call center partnership and provide trainings for call center agents’ daily workflow. Meet with their leaders and teams regularly.
  • Establish partnerships with community organizations for underserved populations to ensure services are offered.
  • Submit patient access department reports to CFO quarterly or as directed.
  • Other duties as required.
