About The Position

Fairview Range is seeking a Patient Access Coordinator II (PAC II) for the Fairview Mesaba Clinic in Hibbing, MN. The PAC II performs clerical tasks, acts as a liaison between patients and healthcare professionals, schedules procedures, manages referrals, and orders supplies. They work as part of a medical team in a potentially fast-paced environment. Under the direction of an RN or LPN, they process physician's orders, assist with unit maintenance, and provide backup support for the Specialty Insurance Clerk. This is a part-time position working 32-59 hours per two weeks, with 8-hour Day/Evening shifts and weekends as needed. The primary work location is Hibbing, with potential coverage in Nashwauk and Mountain Iron.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 months Patient Access Coordinator I or similar experience

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Experience with insurance verification
  • Understanding of various health insurance plans
  • Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Assists care team in processing various forms and refill requests daily.
  • Obtain prior authorization and verification of coverage for private, MA/PMAP and all other insurances at the time of scheduling.
  • Collects and verifies all patient data from patients and enter into the EMR accurately at the time of scheduling to ensure smooth revenue cycle.
  • Coordinate and schedule outreach and ancillary appointments for the providers according AVS at the time of check out following the approved workflows.
  • Greet patients in a prompt and pleasant manner and directs them to the appropriate locations.
  • Assists care team in the plan of care by performing a proper checkout of the patients following the established process.
  • Maintains a safe and hygienic patient environment.
  • Performs clerical tasks such as answering phones and processing paperwork.
  • Acts as a liaison between patients, nurses, providers, and different departments within the clinic or hospital or other care facility.
  • Schedules procedures, internal and external referrals, and orders medical and office supplies.
  • Under direction of an RN or LPN, processes physician's orders, assists with unit maintenance, and other duties as assigned.
  • Provides back up support for the Specialty Insurance Clerk.
