About The Position
Rivers Health is seeking a Patient Access Clerk in the Emergency Room. Primarily responsible for all clerical communications and data processing activities related to the pre-registration, quick registration, and registration of all patients of the facility. Requires a customer relation focused attitude that relates a helpful and friendly atmosphere.
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate verbally and in writing coordinate, motivate and collaborate with others.
- Must be able to effectively recognize the unique needs of patients of all ages, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents and geriatrics.
- Must be able to prioritize and delegate effectively.
- Must be able to judge and problem solve based on situational assessment.
- Must possess good inductive and deductive reasoning skills.
Nice To Haves
- One year experience preferred in a provider office or health care setting.
Responsibilities
- Verifies and correctly enters patient demographic and insurance data including any insurance notification required.
- Performs clerical duties such as admission, discharges, transfers and deaths as needed.
- Completes all required forms and scanning to maintain complete patient record.
- Answers switchboard/phone and appropriately responds to emergency alarms as required.
- Safely transports patients, supplies and specimens as needed.
- Responsible for accepting and processing payments.
- Processes department supply ordering, equipment maintenance, repair requisitions and department mail.
- Maintains patient privacy and respects values of individual patients and provides services accordingly.
- Provides cooperative and courteous service to patients, physicians, staff members and visitors in a timely manner with the utmost of professional behavior.
- Participates in unit meetings, statistical data gathering and quality improvement activities including serving on quality improvement teams.
- Maintains tidiness of registration and waiting area. Cleans desk, counter tops, cabinets, etc. as needed.
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
