About The Position

The Patient Access Representative is the first "face" of LifeCare Medical Center, responsible for greeting patients and visitors. This role involves registering and scheduling all types of patients, including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department patients, ensuring accurate patient identity and verifying demographic and insurance information. Requirements

education in the medical field, medical office assistant certification, or medical terminology
excellent customer service skills
good attention to detail
ability to work independently

Responsibilities

Greets and guides patients and visitors to their destinations with a courteous, respectful and professional manner.
Registers patients with correct patient identity and accurate information within the electronic record system (Epic).
Verifies insurance coverage.
Schedules appointments and checks in appointments.
Obtains patient consent for treatment.
Scans consent forms, EKGs and other documents as requested into Epic.
Completes missing account information through assigned work queues.
Works closely with other departments to ensure patients are receiving services (ED Nursing, Lab, Imaging).
Monitors patient and visitor access through the Emergency Department entrance during the night. (11pm-7am Shift)
Cleans Admitting work area and adjacent public areas when needed.
