SUMMARY: The Director of Laboratory Services is responsible for the day-to-day functions of the assigned locations. This leader directs regulatory compliance, ensures adherence to FCS policies and procedures, maintains the QA/QM activities of the department, and monitors all testing aspects and address any issues with testing and workflow efficiency and efficacy. The Director of Laboratory Services supports and promotes the financial goals of the department and the organization by being fiscally responsible in all areas, including staffing and purchasing. All duties will be performed in accordance with all regulatory requirements and organizational policies and procedures.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field.
Licensed as Clinical Laboratory Supervisor by Florida Department of Health
Experience may be substituted for education as described by State Clinical Laboratory Personnel Statutes.
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in laboratory medicine
At least five (5) years of supervisory experience demonstrating progressive responsibilities
Critical thinking skills including solid problem solving, analysis, decision-making, planning, time management and organizational skills. Must be detailed oriented with the ability to exercise independent judgment.
Developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, diplomacy, tact, conflict management, delegation skills, and diversity awareness. Ability to work effectively with sensitive and confidential material and sometimes emotionally charged matters.
Good command of the English language. Second language is an asset but not required. Effective communication skills (oral, written, presentation), is an active listener, and effectively provides balanced feedback.
Strong customer focus. Ability to build an engaging culture of quality, performance effectiveness and operational excellence through best practices, strong business and political acumen, collaboration and partnerships, as well as a positive employee, physician and community relations.
Effectively manages own time, conflicting priorities, self, stress, and professional development. Self-motivated and self-starter with ability work independently with limited supervision. Ability to work remotely effectively as required.
Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands from a variety of stakeholders and sites.
Effectively lead and facilitate group discussions, coach, mentor, motivate, and engage others to align to a common goal. Ability to effectively lead projects from inception through implementation and assessment.
Effectively hire, coach and support staff develop, as applicable, as well as manage resources, performance and employee relations, and supervise within established policies, procedures and legislation.
Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook required.

Responsibilities

Writes, reviews, and ensures compliance with all Laboratory Administration Policies and Procedures
Manages the contracts of the laboratory departments, including working with the Legal and Procurement departments on negotiation activities
Leads and monitors the projects of the laboratory to achieve successful implementations within the established timeline.
Performs HR-related duties as needed for direct and indirect reports. This includes but is not limited to annual performance reviews, new employee orientation, and addressing of performance and behavioral issues.
Financial Management activities, including: With the VP of Laboratory Services, establish annual capital and operational budgets for the Central Laboratory, Review and address monthly budget variance reports
Work with the Facilities Department to address any building-related issues
Effectively manage relationships with the vendors of products used in the Laboratory
Lead/Participate in Service Recovery activities as needed
Provide effective communication via all modes needed to lab staff, practice staff and clinicians, and others as needed
Maintain and ensure the confidentiality of all patient and employee information at all times.
Will be expected to work at any Company location to help meet the Company’s business needs.
Comply with all Federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to patient care, patient’s rights, safety, billing, human resources and collections. Adhere to all Company, departmental, and IT policies and procedures including the Disaster Recovery Plan.
Maintain laboratory in compliance with certifying agency requirements.
Keep work area and records in a neat and orderly manner.
Maintain all company equipment in safe and working order.
Projects a favorable image of the company to promote its aims and objectives and foster and enhance public recognition and acceptance of all of its areas of endeavor.
Additional tasks as needed to support the team
